Released in 2017 by Playrix, Homescapes is an engaging and
heartwarming mobile game that seamlessly blends the match-3
puzzle genre with a captivating narrative. It offers players a
unique gameplay experience, making it a standout title in the
mobile gaming landscape.Homescapes made its debut in September
2017, captivating mobile gamers with its intriguing mix of
match-3 puzzles and interactive storytelling. Developed by
Playrix, the game falls under the puzzle and simulation genres,
offering a refreshing departure from conventional puzzle games.
Its availability on various platforms has allowed it to garner a
massive and dedicated player base over the years.
At its
core, Homescapes tasks players with renovating a mansion,
breathing life back into its dilapidated state. The gameplay is
divided into two distinct components: the match-3 puzzles and
the home renovation aspect. By completing match-3 levels,
players earn stars, which are then used to make choices in the
renovation process, unlocking new areas and items to rejuvenate
the mansion. What sets Homescapes apart are its strengths,
particularly its seamless integration of storytelling and
gameplay. The narrative unfolds through interactions with
characters, adding depth and emotional investment. The game's
pacing is well-crafted, ensuring players remain engrossed in
both the puzzles and the story. Additionally, the clever use of
power-ups and obstacles in the match-3 levels keeps the gameplay
dynamic and challenging.
Homescapes boasts a charming cast
of characters, each contributing to the storyline and the
mansion's transformation. The protagonist, Austin the butler, is
endearing and relatable as he strives to restore the mansion to
its former glory. Players form connections with characters like
Olivia, Austin's childhood friend, and William, Austin's
parents' friend, enhancing the immersive experience.
The
game features a plethora of levels, each presenting unique
match-3 challenges. As players progress through the story, they
encounter diverse obstacles and objectives, preventing monotony
and fostering strategic thinking. From clearing mud to fixing
broken furniture, each level contributes to the overarching goal
of bringing life back to the mansion.
Homescapes' levels
are meticulously designed, combining creativity with
puzzle-solving. Players must strategize to match tiles
efficiently and maximize the impact of power-ups. As the game
advances, levels become progressively intricate, ensuring a
satisfying learning curve for both casual and dedicated players.

I enjoy the puzzles, and I don't mind spending time to pass a difficult level. My complaint derives from the fact that the further you progress in the game, the fewer customization options you are given. I'm currently level 5100, and for some time now, most decorations are game default without any options to choose between. As someone who greatly enjoys the decorating aspect, at this point, it just feels like a waste of time and stars.

Update 8/8: Thank you for the update Team Homescapes. Hoping the events can be replayable. I feel that they are too short in time. Overall... Enjoyable! More like a Bejeweled or Candy Crush style game but with a story behind it. Some of the matching puzzles can be difficult but eventually you will progress. I recommend giving the game a try.

I do love this game. I have been playing for a few years BUT the pin pulling puzzles have all but disappeared. The monthly challenges have evolved into creating photo albums that I do not find fun at all. I love the seasonal events where you earn, decorate and celebrate different things at the mansion, however, that is no longer. Now you go on map quest adventures but unless you devote your entire life to completing the task, you have nothing to show for it at the end. I miss the old events.
